I just read this in the NY Daily News. It's an aspect to this story I've not read before. In the article, the standard update is given. Middle Eastern or Hispanic man buys Pathfinder from owner without papers off of Craigslist for somewhere around $1500. But then there's this new info, below the fold:
This "person of interest" bought the 1993 Nissan Pathfinder that was abandoned with the engine running - and with primitive, but potentially deadly payload in the rear - just two weeks ago, law enforcement and police sources told The Daily News.
Investigators aren't certain whether he is the same man who drove the rolling bomb to the Crossroads of the World, but he has not been seen by his girlfriend - and has not shown up at his home or job - since the frightening incident on Saturday night.
Obviously if they've questioned his girlfriend and checked his home/job, they must know who he is, right?
I've not seen that level of detail on the man who bought the car from any other source.
Have others read about this in other locations? If so, please feel free to link to it and/or collect more info in the diary below.
Update [2010-5-3 18:50:23 by banderson]: I realize that if this article is accurate, it seems pretty incriminating for the guy who bought the car. One thought did occur to me and it's that the man who bought the car was killed by people who actually planted the bomb. And I'd hate to tarnish the name of a guy who was a victim. Unlikely I realize, but I think it's probably always best to keep some reasonable doubt in the back of our minds as this all gets wrapped up. We'll see how it plays out.

Brian Ross on ABC news (6+ / 0-) just said he's been told that the Feds are closing in on a suspect and that there are ties to Pakistan.
